I think something needs to be done with newbies joining and selling up

Like if selling something requires a picture and user name in the picture
Contact number and email

Along with they must post so XXX times to be aloud to sell

we do what we can and we/i police new members out and always do a bit of homework.

for sale threads get policed when the proper info is not added i always remind the sellers to add all the info we want. even if i do get a few attitude comments in the doing.

here is the warnings for new/old members :)
new members get

Hello,
We are very happy for new members and members without any posts to advertise their cars and parts, provided some basic rules are followed.
Your advert must include a contact number and/or email address
And start a newbie thread telling us a little about your self.

Thats all there is to it, though we do recommend you get involved as results have shown that if you have more posts and reputation sales happen a lot easier!

Failure to update the thread will result in the thread being removed by the mods

Thanks
EvoOwners Staff

and old members get

Hello XXNAMEXX,
Being a long standing member here at EvoOwners.co.uk we know its sometimes easy to forget a few of the rules every now and again. For adverts we have a few rules which are designed to help protect members both new and old. They are easy to follow so if you could just ensure your advert includes a contact number and/or email address thats all we need.

Its hopefully an easy change but failure to update the thread will result in the thread being removed by the mods.

Thanks
EvoOwners Staff

I said ages ago that there should be a picture with the item for sale and the username and date on a piece of paper beside the item, if not delete the thread.

It's not just about policing everything that put up for sale but also about members taking care.
Doing direct bank transfers to people on a forum is a dangerous thing to do. You wouldn't do it for a complete stranger in the street any more than you would hand over some cash to a stranger while he/she drives off to get the thing you just handed over cash for.

Here's an idea might sound a bit silly but:

If the seller hasn't sold anything on here before, and isn't known to us, the buyer before sending payment, should request the seller to post a few pictures of the items and packaging with buyers name and address on the packaging ready for shipping, this could be done via pm of the buyer wished

this would not much bother for the seller a few minuites work.

And if someone went through this bother it would be highly unlikely that he is going to screw u lol

Just a thought

I think that sound good, at least you hope they send it....

I think thy should have to post 25 times then they can sell
Sort of get to know them, I been on here since feb and most of the time i pop on here ther is someone selling something with 1 or 2 posts which I see as easy scamming for the scammer as they can quickly post up

The problem with a post limit is that you get people posting random crap just to get to the limit. A time limit would be a better idea in my opinion, member for minimum of 3 months or something.

well i know that i wouldnt buy anything worth big money off a forum without seeing the packaging before sending payment.

As lee has said Pay Pal is the best way to pay as you can start a dispute and get your money back

The only trouble with checking if they are trusted or not is knowing who has sold and who hasn't. We have so many members on here now that it's hard to remember them all let alone what posts they have made.

We can only do so much to ensure members don't get ripped off but it's also the buyers responsibility to take the right precautions. The same as they should at any time when buying from strangers.
At the end of the day, we can all tap away on our keyboards, but in many ways we are all still strangers here :)

People should pay by PayPal or go collect.
It's not down to newbies ripping people off......one of my first posts was to sell a 6 speed box
I personally try and collect everything....and when selling I try to push for collection only

I trust no one with my £'s until I've had dealings with them
