M2 are made by Cosworth - hks 272 will be different.
I was advised with M2 to upgrade springs/retainers to prevent valve float (bought some speedtech)
If the lift is not as big over standard then you'll probably be ok with standard springs.
agreed - for any big power increase it is essential to strengthen transmission.
saying that I ran a HKS7460 on my 9 without any trouble on the original six speed - never had it
dyno measured but typically 480-500bhp and 450lbft torque on other 2.0L engines using this turbo.
suppose a lot comes...
600 torque is insane on even a 5 speed normal box - surely be wanting a decent (and very costly) aftermarket transmission to handle that for any amount of time
Servicing 2 x year - 200-500 depending on which interval
Most will be cheaper end
Consumables are dependent on
driving style - track days etc will eat
Tyres and brake pads
Tyres about 800
Brake pads 400
clutch standard - 500?
Tyres should last 8-10 thousand miles if driven on road...
got a 57 plate 9 MR FQ 360 with around 45k miles for top end of your budget 18 months ago.
not sure what they go for nowadays - but they're an awesome car to drive, easy to get to 400/400 and yet extremely responsive.
I'd just keep a buffer of funds for repairs. it depends how hard the car is abused how much it is going to break. litchfields do one which is well received for nissans but ultimately if you are only driving it for a 3-4k miles a year, not tracking it and keeping on top of servicing it's a bit...
my FQ300 had silver hard pipe kit with blue hks silicon connectors.
+ carbon trimmings with it's edition number on gear stick panel
+ fq300 badging on both the bottom boot and sides near front and an FQ300
carbon inset in the rear wing sides.
extreme did quite a few specials - 7 extreme...
CPP will and would recommend them - their work on my 9 was faultless and good value.
another company I'd recommend who are more NW than CPP is Eightspeed who serviced and did a 'stage 1' remap on my 7 - again top quality premises, no problems and good value.
think there's still a guide on MLR you can download without being a member that has a checklist of things to look at.
only issue I had with both mine was AYC pump failure on my 7 - a common problem.
the 9 was a fantastic car, even when it was on OEM turbo and engine.
i remember £30 of vpower (5 gallons) lasting about 60 miles per week of non-thrashed, boring traffic jam driving in manchester when i had the bright idea of driving my old 7 into work instead of getting the tram :D
I assume driving to 3 miles to work means urban, 30mph zones lights etc. not motorways. so 15mpg sounds right under these conditions, even driven carefully.
